The word peptide is not an approval status.
Peptide describes a type of molecule. Some peptide medicines are FDA-approved for specific uses; others remain investigational. Each formulation and intended use needs its own assessment.
Compounding is a separate question.
A compounded preparation is not FDA-approved. It does not inherit a branded product’s approval. FDA does not review compounded drugs for safety, effectiveness, or quality before marketing.
Off-label and unapproved are not synonyms.
Off-label generally describes use of an approved drug outside its approved labeling. It should not be used as a shortcut to describe an unapproved compound or imply that every peptide on a website is an approved medicine.
Read the safety information.
FDA has published ingredient-specific safety concerns for several peptides. Ask your clinician about human evidence, uncertainties, established alternatives, and the current requirements for the exact product being considered.
